Love making music from instruments, but want to be more adventurous by trying out something new? The Otamatone Electronic Instrument might be your cup of tea as it comes in one extremely cute form factor, alongside a face. Yes sir, this Japan-flown musical instrument is a snap to pick up, where you place a finger on the stem to choose the pitch.

In order to get vibrato, just squeeze on the note’s rubber cheeks repeatedly and you’re good to go, since this will open the Otamatone Electronic Instrument’s mouth. You’ll need to be blessed with a really great musical ear since the strip on the stem is missing pitch labels and frets.

e’ve seen plenty of pico projectors in the past, but here’s one that targets the iPhone specifically – the MiLi iPhone Projector. It works with the iPod as well, offering you a way of viewing all those GBs of video files stored on your device without having to squint your eyes after a while due to the screen size. After all, this projector will throw a much larger image onto any decent surface, letting not only you but others around to check out the latest episode in your favorite drama series. You can pick one up for £229.

Compatible with both the iPhone and the iPod (so anyone who hasn’t made the leap to iPhone yet is still ok), the MiLi Projector is the only portable media viewing device you’ll need. Not that many people need more than one, but you get the idea. It’s a bit like having a cinema in your pocket, but without the sticky floors and lack of leg-room, and with a maximum projection of 70 inches you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled into a very comfortable multiplex. There are some nice integrated speakers and even a remote control to adjust the whole thing with. You can either opt for good ol’ wall socket power or charge it up via USB, which will give you 1.5 hours of viewing time. The focus is fully adjustable, it’ll charge your iPhone/iPod, you can connect other external video devices like a PC, Laptop (perfect for presentations), DVD player or VCR thanks to the AV in/out connection… the list of features just goes on and on. Heck, it’s even got its own cute little stand.

The Xbox 360 and Facebook are linking up to fight a virtual re-enactment of World War I.The battle begins with Match Defense: Toy Soldiers, a Microsoft Games Studios title launched on Facebook a couple of weeks ago. The 11,000 users currently playing this 2D gem-matching game are waged in a war against Xbox users who will play the soon-to-be-released Toy Soldiers, a 3D real-time strategy that comes out for XBLA this Both games contribute to a massive virtual war effort, linked between the two platforms. Facebook and Xbox 360 players choose their side of the war, Central forces or Allied, and score points for their selected team. Those points then decide which countries either side conquers.

Microsoft will add a feature to Facebook’s Match Defense, allowing people to connect to their Xbox Live accounts. Users who own the XBLA title, Toy Soldiers, will score triple the points when playing the Facebook version. In other words, players with this duel connectivity will have a much bigger say in which side wins World War I.

The 360-Facebook link is about “game experiences that are screen-relevant” and connecting them, the game’s Microsoft producer Justin Robey told Kotaku. He said gamers can except more of this platform linking from Microsoft in the future.
